Serving.
How does the Church Serve?
The Church makes disciples in obedience to Jesus. (Mark 16:15-16). Making disciples serves God and the people that we disciple. Providing for people’s needs, comforting them, supporting them and welcoming them is evidence of our faith in God and obedience to Him (Matthew 25:35-36). The Church exercises spiritual gifts to bring order, healing, peace and freedom (1 Cor 12:28).
What is the purpose of Serving?
The Church serves, in obedience to God and for His Glory. The Church imitates Jesus in the way that we serve (Matthew 20:25-28) and builds up the Church, the body of Christ (Romans 15:2), to do the work He’s called us to do.
What can Serving do?
Serving can draw people to God through the way that it demonstrates His love to them (Matthew 5:16). Serving in obedience to Jesus, puts the needs of others before our own, humbling us and making us more like Him in the process.
