Paul’s Story

Paul tells his story

ACTS 22

Paul has arrived back to JERUSALEM, knowing what awaited him…
(The Holy Spirit did warn him that jail and suffering awaited him - Acts 20;22-24
and again by a prophet Agabus Acts 21:11-14)

The Jewish people are angry that Paul is teaching people about GRACE and not the LAW
and they thought that Paul had taken Greek gentiles into their Jewish temples
Acts 21:28

To have salvation you simply need to BELIEVE in JESUS
circumsion did not save you
baptism did not save you

Acts 22:1 - 21
Paul was born in Tarsus
Brought up in Jerusalem
Educated by Gamaliel
Persectuted believers
He approved the stoning of Steven
His DAMASCUS MOMENT - when he became a believer
The Lord gave him his mission:
ACTS 22:15 - You will be a witness
ACTS 22:21 - GO to the Gentiles

What language did Paul speak to the commander?  (Greek)

  1. What did he ask the commander?  (If he could speak to the crowd)

  2. What language did Paul speak to the crowd?  (Aramaic)

  3. What did Paul share with the crowd?  (His testimony of how he became a believer in Jesus)

  4. What did Paul say that made the crowd go crazy again?  (God told him to go and share the Good News with the Gentiles)

  5. How was Paul protected from being beaten?  (He told the centurion he was a Roman citizen and they could not be beaten unless they had been found guilty of a crime)

  6. True or False:  If you share the Good News with others and they don’t believe in Him, you have not done a good job sharing the message.  (False-a believer is only responsible to be obedient to share the Gospel and it is the one who hears responsibility to believe or not)

What can we learn from Paul

That he TRUSTED the Lord
He was BOLD & COURAGEOUS
He was OBEDIENT

MEMORY VERSE

PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.

He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.

    He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
    bringing honor to his name.

Even when I walk
    through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
    protect and comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
    My cup overflows with blessings.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
    forever.
