Enter through the narrow gate.
For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction,
and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Have the children list at least six ways they can choose to follow Jesus instead of following what the rest of the world is doing.
Here are some examples to get them started.
1. Go to church or go to a birthday party on Sunday
2. Have self control and watch what comes out of your mouth (toothpaste)
3. Make wise descisions about what you watch on TV
4. Say something nice about another person instead of gossiping
5. Chose wisely the types of parties or celebrations you attend
6. Consider carefully before posting on social media
It is not always easy to walk the narrow path of righteousness. Temptation to walk a different, more popular path can come in many forms. It may be from a good friend urging you to do something, or it may be a cool advertisement, or even people making fun of you when you act like a Christian. To avoid falling into these traps set by the devil there are three things you can do.
1. Know the truth. You can learn this from the Bible. The more you study and memorize the Bible, the better equipped you will be to fight off the devil.
2. Memorize scripture. When tempted, you can throw God's word right back at the devil. Maybe he will try again, like he did with Jesus when he tempted Him three times. But if you keep on resisting, eventually he will give up, at least for a while.
3. Keep on praying. When you pray this week, ask Jesus to help you walk right behind Him, on His path. The Bible says Jesus will be your lamp, and a light unto your feet.
