The Perfect Vaccine

There’s so much talk about vaccines. What would the perfect Vaccine look like, according to medical thinking it should be safe, ethical and effective. Hebrews 10 shows how Jesus sacrifice for our sin was not just a remedy for sin (in that it takes away the punishment of sin) but also a vaccine which changes us and makes us less and less likely to sin. His perfect sacrifice changes us from rebels to worshippers.

Scripture

Hebrews 10:10-18 ESV  And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  [11]  And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.  [12]  But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,  [13]  waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.  [14]  For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.  [15]  And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,  [16]  “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”  [17]  then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”  [18]  Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Prayer

Dear Father God, Thank You for the perfect lamb of God, our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for defeating our enemies, for making our hearts desire You and obedience to Your word, empowering us to obey joyfully and forgetting our guilt. Please forgive us when we try in our own strength to offer sacrifice to You, when His sacrifice was enough for all time. Please help us to grown in love and obedience, and to change from the rebels we were to the worshippers You designed us to be. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Worship

Holy Spirit : Kristyn Getty

Holy Spirit, living Breath of God,
Breathe new life into my willing soul.
Bring the presence of the risen Lord
To renew my heart and make me whole.
Cause Your Word to come alive in me;
Give me faith for what I cannot see;
Give me passion for Your purity.
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me.

Holy Spirit, come abide within;
May Your joy be seen in all I do—
Love enough to cover ev'ry sin
In each thought and deed and attitude,
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my striving into works of grace.
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.

Holy Spirit, from creation's birth,
Giving life to all that God has made,
Show Your power once again on earth;
Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways.
Let the fragrance of our prayers arise.
Lead us on the road of sacrifice
That in unity the face of Christ
Will be clear for all the world to see.

Serving

If we were to find a safe, effective and ethical cure and vaccine for the diseases of the world, wouldn’t we share that knowledge with everyone we love? How much more should we be looking to minister God’s great and perfect vaccine to the people we love. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to show You how to minister the Gospel to the world He loves and gave His life to save.
