Can we worship without singing?
A couple of years ago, I met an gentle elderly man who was always kind and friendly, but because of his advanced age, it wasn’t always easy to understand him and really appreciate who he was. We had some good conversations and I felt like I was getting to know him. Sadly, age finally claimed his life and I had the privilege of conducting his memorial service. It’s only then that I found out who he really was, an extraordinary man, a real hero of world war II. I wish I had known him better, and I miss the privilege of speaking with him.
The topic of worship can be similar. We’re so used to it, we think we know and understand it, but when we really discover what it is we can be left regretting the time and opportunities we wasted. Scripture isolates worship as the purpose for our existence, and so it’s far more important than we possibly imagined. We all worship something or someone, we’re designed to. But who we worship and how we worship Him is the most important thing we will ever do. We must make every effort to understand and appreciate this while we can.

Worship
When the music fades
And all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You
It's all about You, Jesus
King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
It's all about You, Jesus
Service
There are so many needs during these difficult times. It’s not difficult to find someone who needs love, prayer and simple company. But in times like these it can be difficult to get up and do the work of God because of how we’re feeling. Today let’s take time to really think about our need for God, how far we’ve fallen short of His design for us, and the miracle of what Jesus has done for us. Then let’s ask for the power to get up and do whatever we can, in work, play and every other area of life, with all our strength as if we’re doing it for Jesus.
